Roger Myers, drums & percussion

Roger received his bachelors of music education with concentration in applied percussion from Salem College and his Master of Arts in African and African American Studies from The Ohio State University. Roger’s interest in the music and cultures of the African diaspora has served as a catalyst for his development of culturally specific programming that incorporates hand drumming, African and African American history, life skills and personal development for youth and young adults. Similarly, Roger has designed a group drumming process for older adults that diminishes the effects of aging and dementia.

Roger has performed with nationally recognized jazz artists such as Lonnie Liston Smith, Ahmad Jamal, Les McCann, Slide Hampton, Rusty Bryant and many more. Roger has lead his own jazz ensemble comprised of some of the best musicians in the central Ohio Area under the names of Seeds of Fulfullment, Ibada, Transcend and Path.

Roger was trained classically, but his primary interest is in set drumming, hand drumming and world percussion.
