Roger Myers

DRUMS

Roger has recently returned from the San Francisco/Bay Area were he taught and was an administrator for the New College of California and the Oakland Public Conservatory of Music. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in music education with a special emphasis in applied percussion and a Masters of Arts in African and African American Studies with a special emphasis in history. Roger has combined his interests in percussive arts, history and personal development to design interactive and therapeutic educational programming for youth at risk, elderly with alzheimer's disease and individuals with the dual diagnosis of mental illness and drug addiction. Roger continues to perform locally  and lead his own jazz ensemble, as well as, perform with the Jazz Poetry Ensemble. He has performed with such national jazz treasures as Slide Hampton, John Handy and many of the finest Bay Area instrumentalists including Glenn Pearson, Ron Belcher, Angela Wellman, Idris Ackamoor and many more.
