It is always our goal to have our latest performance be our best so far. Sometimes it happens. Sometimes it doesn’t. At Comfest 2022, it did. It was a beautiful warm summer evening with a light breeze. The usual parade of diversity was standing in line for gyros and hot dogs or promenading the avenues of booths. Our program had been made more urgent by the recent Supreme Court decisions. It was our first performance as Make Jazz Not War and it was a honey.  Most of the program was new and our old pieces were all updated. As we got deeper into the program, we started catching the crowd. When we hit our newest piece,“On Moral Decay in America”, we had them. More importantly we had each other. By the time we finaleed with “Make Jazz Not War”, Roger and Brett and The Governor were locked in. It was a storm.

Our next performance is Hot Times in Old Town. It’s back on the Dept. of Health lawn at Parsons and Main. We play Friday, September 9, at 6:45 p.m. We expect it to be our best so far.

It has been just a bit difficult getting around to posting lately. You’ll be hearing from us more often now. Coming up, we’ll be publishing the texts from our pieces and more.
