This is the last of our lo-fi recordings from a recent rehearsal. It’s about policing in America. I’m pro-labor. I grew up singing union songs with my family. I have been a member of unions. The problem with police “unions” is they are entrenched in the past. In fact, “past practice” is their mantra of reactionaryism. In this piece, we musically quote Salt Peanuts with the words “past practice”. Dizzy said “salt peanuts” was just nonsense words that worked. ‘Nuff said.

Wait a minute.
Whatchu mean OUR police?
Ain’t never been OUR police!
Rich white people’s police – yeah.
But never OUR police.

Lot of ‘em started out slave-catchers.
Most of the rest were Pinkerton or the like
They were jackals working for
the WHITE Man.

The white MAN recruited brutalizers,
vicious men kill without thought

Take brass knuckles over bare
slit a throat easy as take a piss
men with Fists Of Pain

Fists Of Pain

They recruited bullies and rapists
Belittlers and petty tyrants

Men who take advantage of the weak

Men enticed by the Flatulent Odor of Power

Men Full Of Petty Power

when the people fought the power
These were the men who put them down.
